“My kids and I love this place! We have been going here for about 4 years. My kids are now 6&8 and have been wanting to go back to the exam room all by themselves for a few years now. They always get excited for a cleaning! The staff is very professional and friendly. Everyone who works here does a great job making the kids feel comfortable and independent. Dr Azadpur always explains things and takes the least invasive approach. So glad we found them!” – Parent of a Patient
Halloween is around the corner, and we are so excited!
We love when our little patients come to the office wearing their costumes. With their parents' permission, we take pictures to post on our socials.
We also run a yearly Candy Buy Back program during the 2 days following Halloween. Our patients can bring in their candy and "sell" it to us for $1 per pound, up to 5 pounds. We then screen the candy and donate it to various organizations in the area such as first responders, CT National Guard Armory, Gifts of Love, etc. This helps reduce the amount of sugary treats our kiddos eat and hopefully reduces the risk of future cavities.
At our practice, we all have work uniforms, but that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun. Shari, for example, has a fun spooky spider headband she likes to wear. We are excited to see what our little patients will come up with this year!
As for Halloween treats, parents should first go through the haul and get rid of anything that has been opened. Then, treats should be parceled out a little at a time, and good oral hygiene should be encouraged. While Dr. Azadpur doesn't recommend any specific treats for Halloween, knowing kids will enjoy them, she suggests having treats with less sugar, which will help keep those sugar bugs away!
However, some Halloween treats should be avoided. Sticky treats are hard to wash away and will require better brushing. It's also best not to send them to school because most kids don't have the option to brush after lunch. Regardless, it’s a myth that brushing right after eating candy will prevent cavities. While it helps, there is bound to be some candy caught in between teeth, which may lead to cavities.
This month, we are also celebrating Lilly's birthday. She has been our go-to dental assistant for several years and takes great care of her patients. Thank you, Lilly, for all you do. Happy Birthday!
If you’re looking to schedule an appointment with us, especially during the holiday season, please reach out to our team and we will provide you with our availability. Dr. Azadpur and her team are actively evaluating our patients for airway issues and lip/tongue ties. We have a Solea laser in the office and have been performing frenectomies on patients as young as 3 DAYS old! This is a life-changing procedure, and we are so happy to be able to offer it.
We hope to see you soon!
